How To Start Mobile Bartending with Just the Essentials

Mobile Bartending Essentials guide. Outdoor bar setup with jars, herbs, and a yellow floral bust. Orange menu card listing drink names.

My Story

When I first started mobile bartending, I didn’t have portable bars or a massive budget, and honestly, it didn’t matter. Knowing what I know now, I see that what I did have, creativity, the determination to make something of my own, and the drive to figure it out as I went, was more than enough to get started. I also had years of bartending experience, but I can't really say that's what did it. It helped, but it wasn't a huge deal whether I had it or not.

Fast forward, and I’ve built my own mobile bartending business, one that gave me more control over my time, income, and creativity. After reaching my goal of a six-figure year, I saw how unfulfilled I still was.

Creating this guide was never a part of my plan, or my big picture idea. I thought I'd move on back into fashion, visual merchandising, or a career in organization. But something in me keeps pushing for this. Not this guide per se, but the nudging to fully share what I've learned through mobile bartending. So here I am, again, two years after realizing that bartending isn't my passion, I'm hesitantly following the gentle voice telling me to share my experience. I can’t say for sure where this road will lead, but in the mist of all things uncertainty and confusion in my life right now, a part of me wonders, is this part of my purpose?

I've put together something similar before "Where'd You Get That?" to answer the many questions about where I purchased things like my portable bars, and beverage bins, but I'm at a point to where I feel like rewriting it. Truly writing it. In a more aligned, reflective, and intentional way. And in a way that honors who I really am. Not just throwing together information for the sake of getting paid. So this new updated guide is the first of many resources I’ll be openly sharing. Raw, unfiltered, real talk about my experience as a mobile bartending business owner.

What’s Inside the Guide?

This isn’t a fluffy, generic checklist you can find on online. A contradiction since you definitely found this online, but you know what I mean. It’s a practical, real-world resource based on my own experience starting and growing my business.

Inside, I cover:

  • The core essentials you actually need for your first gigs (bartending tools, business cards and more).

  • The business basics that help you look professional from day one.

  • Premium upgrades and add-ons I invested in as I grew, including honest takes on what’s worth it and what’s not.

  • The business structure essentials if you're serious about taking this full-time.

Each section includes product and service recommendations with clickable links, so you don’t have to spend hours researching what to buy.

Why This Guide?

I didn’t have a mentor or a community when I started or throughout operating my business. I learned by doing, a lot of times, the hard way. And while I wouldn’t trade those lessons, I know how much time, money, and stress this kind of resource could’ve saved me.

My goal with this guide is simple, to give you the clarity and confidence I wish I had at the beginning. Whether you’re:

  • a bartender looking to break free from restaurant life, (this was me!)

  • someone curious about starting a weekend side hustle, or

  • already started your mobile bartending business but not sure what to do next,

…this guide is for you.

Ready to Start?

You don’t need thousands of dollars or a garage full of equipment to begin. The essentials are enough to get you going, and this guide will walk you through exactly what those are.

Where you take it from there is up to you. A side hustle, a stepping stone, or the start of a full-on business. My hope is that this guide gives you the clarity to take that next step with confidence.
