Bartending can be a job, a stepping stone, a career, or a business.  It can give you flexibility, good money, and a way to build a life around the things that matter to you.  But what works for one person, doesn't necessarily work for another.

I bartended for 15 years.  I've worked in sports bar, hotels, nightclubs, fine dining restaurants, managed bars, and eventually built my own mobile bartending business from 50 business cards and a set of bar tools, into a six-figure business.  I learned a lot along the way.  A lot about bartending, a lot business, and surprisingly, a lot about myself.

Most of what we see online focuses on drinks and service. And yes, you need to know drinks, and service is also important.  But there's so much more to actually being good at bartending, and being able to leverage it to your benefit.  Things like efficiency, organization, the ability to multitask, reading the room, managing your money, setting boundaries, knowing when to say no, and just knowing how to make bartending work for you instead of letting the work, work you.

I don't pretend that I got everything right, because I didn't.  I've made plenty of mistakes, and you will too.  It just comes with the territory of life and starting something new.  What matters is learning from them, adjusting, and keeping it moving.  I can't help you avoid every mistake, but I've made enough of them to help you save time and money, so let's figure out what makes sense for you.
