Sailor Moon x MomoCon 2026

I love finding events my kid genuinely looks forward to. I’ve been familiar with Comic-Con and conventions in general, but I came across MomoCon while researching fun things (based on his interest) for us to do together in Atlanta. What started as “this could be interesting” quickly turned into one of the highlights of our year.
The last MomoCon we attended in 2024 was a lot less planned. We kind of just showed up and figured things out as we went. Then we missed 2025, and ever since then he has been asking if we could go back. The anticipation alone has been huge. He talks about it constantly. The costumes, the characters, the crowds, the merch.
Then of course, it wouldn’t feel like a true kid activity without costumes involved.
“Mom, we have to cosplay!”
So naturally, the next question became: okay… who am I going to be?
Sailor Moon! Defender of love and justice.
He’ll be Caine from The Amazing Digital Circus, and I’ll be Sailor Moon. I love that combination for us. It captures both of our personalities and interests.
My favorite part about MomoCon is seeing how creative everyone gets with their costumes. Some people spend months designing every detail. Others throw together something fun and recognizable at the last minute. Either way, I love being surrounded by people who are all just excited to share what they love.
At the same time, this year I learned that conventions like MomoCon aren’t always ideal for younger children. If you have kids who are happy simply observing everything, then it can be amazing. But my son is currently at that age where seeing things instantly turns into wanting things.
Every booth becomes:
“Can I get this?”
“What about this?”
“Ooooh I NEED this.”
And I get it. The vendor halls are awesome! But it can definitely become frustrating when you’ve already spent money on tickets, food, parking, costumes, and the entire experience, only for the mood to suddenly change because someone spotted a $200 Charizard plushie they can’t live without.
Also, some of the content and costumes can definitely lean more mature. It’s anime culture, so I get that it comes with the territory, but it’s something parents should realistically consider before attending.
If your kids are older teens, huge anime fans, or mature enough to navigate those environments, it can be an amazing experience. But for us, I think this may be our last MomoCon for a few years. I’d rather pause now and revisit it later when he’s a little older and better able to enjoy the convention without feeling overwhelmed by every booth or collectible.
Despite the overstimulation and occasional meltdowns, I love going. It's the stepping into another world for a day, dressing up, and watching your kid enjoy themselves with people who enjoy the same things he does.
But if you happen to see a mom dressed as Sailor Moon trying to gently explain why a $200 Charizard plushie is not coming home with us… just know I’m doing my best.

Very MomoCon, but I would also wear this to:
🌙 Halloween parties
🌙 Anime conventions
🌙 Costume birthdays
🌙 Girls’ night cosplay themes
🌙 Nostalgic 90s-themed events

All the details for my Sailor Moon cosplay look are linked below. From the boots to the wig to the accessories, I wanted something cute, comfortable enough to survive a convention, and still recognizable enough to fully commit to the character.
For reference: Height: 6-ft Size: 4 Shoe: 10
Sailor Moon - I'm wearing a woman's small. Chocker, headband and cloves came with the dress. I used double sided tape to keep the gloves from falling down my arm.
Tights - I'm wearing a medium. Happy I ordered these. They came in clutch for covering my bum. A soft cozy secure fit. Good stretch. Very comfortable.
The Boots - Comfortable but definitely not the shoe for a convention. These boots are not made for walking.
The Wig - A good costume wig. Came with a hair net. Both the net and wig fit securely.
Hair Clips - Easy clip ons.
Hand Bag - Noticed that this is no longer available. If they happen to restock, the chain broke luckily it has a hand strape
